About Me

After spending most of my adult life in the mountains of Colorado, I now reside in Washington State.  I came to the Seattle area about 2 years ago, for what I thought was a few weeks, to help my mother, now in her late 80’s – long story short, a few months after that, I rented my home in Colorado and moved here to help long term.  Having lived in a small town for many years, Seattle was just too much for me, so after months of searching, I finally found a wonderful small cabin – only 528 sq ft, in a very small town – population 432, in Northern WA.  I’m very close to the ocean and the mountains, which I love, so that makes me happy.  I also now have a yard for my two dogs, JJ – border collie and lab mix, and Cash – boxer and lab mix.

I’ve lived in or near big cities over the years in California, Oregon, Colorado, and Massachusetts, so I’m happy to be back in a small town where life is simple again.  Living simply affords me time to travel, which is my passion.  Having worked as a concierge for many years in Colorado, I booked other people’s travel and was always working on my next vacation idea.  Living in a ski resort with downtime in the Spring and Fall, also afforded me time to travel.  My most recent international trip was to Bali and before that, it was Hong Kong and China.

My career has been in hospitality, with the main focus on food and beverage.  I love to meet new people, explore new places and try new foods.  I will spend a day or two in main tourist areas, like the Great Wall of China because you need to see things like that, but I generally enjoy traveling slowly through the small towns, outside of tourist attractions to get the real feel of where I am.

I plan to do a lot of work on my small home, inside and out, while I also start to explore my new surroundings.  I’m looking at this move and this blog as a new chapter in my life, that I wasn’t expecting, but I’m finding very exciting.  That’s why I named my site “small, simple, slow” – enjoying the small and simple pleasures of life, slowly…
